Responsible gaming in the Philippines: self-exclusion and where to get help
A new casino on the island means more people gambling for the first time. Most will enjoy an evening and walk away. For anyone who finds it hard to stop, the Philippines has a formal way to step back, and free people to talk to.
Signs it may be time to step back
- Spending more money or time than you planned, again and again.
- Chasing losses, or borrowing to keep playing.
- Hiding how much you gamble from family.
- Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut down.
Self-exclusion
You can ban yourself from all PAGCOR-licensed casinos for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. The first six months cannot be cancelled once they start. You apply online through PAGCOR's Self-Exclusion Application Portal with a photo of a government-issued ID and a selfie. Once approved, you are added to the National Database of Restricted Persons and casinos must refuse you entry.
Family exclusion
A spouse, child or parent can apply to exclude a family member for 6 months, 1 year or 3 years. The application needs a completed form, IDs for both the applicant and the family member, recent photos and, where relevant, a birth or marriage certificate. Applications go to gamingcontrol@pagcor.ph or in person at PAGCOR's office in the MET Live Building, Pasay City.
